Ronnie + Bruce @ Woodward

summer camp isn't what it used to be. now kids get to go to summer camp and skate for an entire week on some of the best parks, ramps, and rails around. our boys Ronnie Kessner and Bruce Brower have been going to Woodward for the last few years now and always go the same week together. which means we get to watch some great footage of Ronnie compiled and slapped together in a tasteful way via Bruce. good work boys.

Ronnie does part of America

Sure, in the winter surfers just have to bundle up in a little more neoprene and snowboarders get to actually do their thing. But what do skaters do when their is snow/ice/sleet on the ground?

Well, if you're Ronnie Kessner you meet up with the Axion crew for their Axion Does America Tour at Black Diamond Skatepark inside and proceed to go bonkers. Above is a little clip of Ronnie from the demo, kid just keeps getting better and better. And peep an animated gif (also from Exploitation Mag) of Ronnie's backside flip from a few months ago. Also check out filmer Bruce Brower's Youtube page for some quick old footy edits of Ronnie as well.

a big week for Ronnie

Willy Santos is a skate legend. When Tony Hawk decided to leave Powell Peralta and start Birdhouse he asked Willy to be one of the original team members (and Willy still rides for Birdhouse to this day). Willy was selected as TransWorld SKATE's 1992 Rider Of The Year. Along with Steve Caballero, Willy was one of the first Vans riders to have a signature shoe. And on his website, willysantos.com, he posted a Three Try Thursday video recently of our very own Ronnie Kessner (seen above). Not only that, but Jetty officially announced the addition of Ronnie to their skate team today. What a week for the kid. Hopefully he's doing just as well in school now that it's begun.

And as a bonus, below is Willy Santos' part from one of Birdhouse's best flicks, The End.

parked and pizzad with Ronnie Kessner

Ronnie Kessner just got back from Jetty's Parks & Pizza tour after surviving an earthquake and a hurricane in the van seen below. He also came back with a boatload of A+ footage (coming soon to the site) and a new sponsor: Jetty! We caught up with Ronnie a bit. And a second congrats to Ronnie for making the cut for the finals in Volcom's Wild In the Parks in Austin, TX October 15th—kid's been straight killing it! Stay tuned for more on our top skate rider.

Where all did you go on the Jetty tour?
When i joined the trip we went to Philly, Baltimore, and NYC.

Where was your favorite spot to skate?
My favorite spot was the wire spot in Baltimore. I got a ton of footage.

Who landed the biggest trick and what was it?
Fritz mead killed a 10 rail and banged out 5 tricks in about 10 minutes.

Funniest thing that happened on the tour?
Listening to Mike C and Fritz talk. They had me laughing so hard that I cried probably 3 times a day. They were the funniest people I think I have ever met. It was super fun and I'm super stoked to be a part of the Jetty family!

Meet Ronnie Kessner

Above is a clip from Woodward Skatepark of Surf Shack South's top skate team rider Ronnie Kessner. Ronnie's had an incredible start to 2011, and here's a few of the results that are showing he's one of the best young skaters in New Jersey.

Bangers for Bells: 2nd place
Valentines Day Massacre: 1st place
King of the Bridge: 1st place
SpringFling Skate Jam: 1st place
Philly Am: 8th place (sponsored division)

Ronnie spends his summers over in Beach Haven on his parents' boat, which means he's hanging out at the Shack South daily. Look for more big things to come from Ronnie this year (and in the years to come). And here's Ronnie's run at this year's Philly Am below.
